No special patient preparations required
Special Collection Instructions
Only single unit whole blood therapeutic phlebotomies are performed at CRMC.
All physician orders must include the patient’s diagnosis, the volume to be removed and the laboratory values to be monitored. If it is a standing order, the frequency must also be stated.

Medical Director Approval is required for all therapeutic phlebotomies at Capital Region Medical Center.
For initial therapeutic phlebotomies, the Medical Director must be contacted prior to the procedure for verbal approval.
